Path App as the Super Messenger

Path App as the Super Messenger

Now that there’s news that Path may be on the trail to certain acquisition, I thought I ought to add my two cents before the deal goes through. I’ve been a Path user for several years, although I certainly don’t use it the way it was intended. My network consists of only one other person—my wife. We’ve purposely kept others out of our network, and I had to admit I love it that way. We’ve been using it as a sort of text messenger on steroids, and in that capacity it’s exceptional.

We live lives that are both together and separate, and Path has actually made us closer. She works in Manhattan all day; I’m here in Brooklyn. We both travel quite a bit. Nearly two years ago we had a daughter, and Path has been there for us to share amazing things that happen with her every day. We’re also using it to catalog things that happen when we’re all together. It’s actually turned into a very complete record of our life.

If Path is indeed being acquired to bolster Apple’s Messenger functionality, then that’s a shrewd move on Apple’s part. Because I’ve been living in that future for the past few years, and it’s glorious.
