Admittedly, I’ve never really given the email newsletter a chance. I know there’s a special brand of web nerd who’ve always loved them, but for me they always seemed so archaic. So spammy.
And then, all of a sudden, they made perfect sense.
I’ve spent the last two years complaining to anyone who would listen about how frustrated I am with the web nowadays. It’s just become so disjointed. From Twitter to RSS to Email to Facebook to the myriad of publications I consume, it’s spread out so far that I just don’t deal with any of it anymore. I noticed as my RSS consumption dropped from daily to weekly to probably less than monthly now. Staying on top of new things has become work. Turns out I’m not the only one.
So I’ve decided to put my faith in email. As much as we all love to complain about it, as a tool of the web it has incredible staying power. For the time being, my source for new design happenings will come solely from my inbox. Fingers crossed, because I’m not sure what else to try.
