I’m a seasoned design and product leader living in Portland, Oregon.

About me

For the past 15 years, I’ve been working at the forefront of digital design.

Currently, I’m the Director of Design at Goldstar, where I’ve been guiding a small, scrappy team through some big, impactful changes. We spent most of 2018 working through a redesign (Goldstar’s first in over a decade), which debuted in November to much fanfare. In addition to steering the brand, I’m hyper-focused on the operational side of design—helping designers do their jobs more efficiently.

Previously, I was the head of Auxiliary Design Company, an NYC-based design agency for nearly a decade. I’ve led projects for PepsiCo, CBRE, Maersk, Vornado, Kickboard, and many others.

I tend to spend my free time surfing, playing loud guitars, and doing dad stuff. I occasionally release limited runs of guitar pedals for sale under the brand New Ritual.

About this site

After a long writing hiatus, I wanted to restart a blog that felt like the blogs I used to love. It’s not necessarily about any focused topic (although a few show up regularly). If I do it right, it’ll be a reflection of who I am at the moment–ebbing and flowing with my interests. An online magazine of me.
